Trivia Night for a Cause 2026 Draws Record 28 Teams

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier marked World Polio Day on October 24, 2026, with its biggest Trivia Night for a Cause yet, bringing together a record 28 teams at Philtown Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City for an evening of friendly competition, fellowship, and fundraising in support of Rotary's efforts to end polio.
Now in its eighth edition, Trivia Night for a Cause has become one of the club's fundraising traditions. First launched in 2017, the event took a two-year break in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic before making its comeback in 2022. Since then, it has continued to bring people together for a common purpose: raising funds and awareness for polio eradication.
This year's event was especially meaningful as it coincided with World Polio Day, a global observance dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing support for the fight against polio. Proceeds from the event will go to PolioPlus, Rotary's program supporting global polio eradication efforts.
A Battle of Brains for a Worthy Cause
The competition kicked off at 6:00 PM, with teams of five to ten members testing their knowledge across a wide range of trivia topics. Participants secured their slots through advance registration, with registration fees contributing to the fundraiser.
The competition featured four rounds, each consisting of three unique categories with seven questions per category. With 84 questions in total, teams had plenty of opportunities to put their collective knowledge, quick thinking, and teamwork to the test.
After four rounds of competition, Team 6 emerged as the grand champion, taking home a whole lechon, ₱3,000 in cash, and various gift certificates.
Kurimawz claimed second place, winning a lechon belly, ₱2,000 in cash, and assorted gift certificates, while Clingy Geeks secured third place, earning a lechon manok, ₱1,000 in cash, and additional gift certificates.
Beyond the prizes and bragging rights, the evening brought together trivia enthusiasts who shared in the excitement of the competition while contributing to a cause that extends far beyond Cagayan de Oro.
