The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier turned over a new water pump and filtration system to Bonbon Elementary School on September 30, 2026, through its Safe Water in Schools and Homes (SWISH) project, addressing the school’s challenges with water access and providing students and teachers with a source of potable water.

Led by Project Chair Rotarian Michael Adame, the project responded to an existing problem with the school’s water supply. Classrooms on the upper floors previously had no reliable access to water because the existing supply could not adequately reach them.

The newly donated water pump provides the pressure needed to bring water to the upper floors, improving access throughout the school. The Rotary Club also donated a water filter that allows water from the school’s washing stations to be filtered for drinking.

Bonbon Elementary School organized a turnover program to mark the completion of the project. Rotarian Michael Adame introduced SWISH and the purpose of the newly installed system, followed by a message from Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier President Mae Grace Siao.

Bonbon Elementary School Principal Ronnie P. Ura-ura delivered a message of thanks, while Barangay Captain Hon. Lelit Baal-Molina also addressed those gathered for the turnover.

Following the program, attendees witnessed a demonstration of the water system, showing how the pump and filtration components work to improve the school’s water access.

Joining President Mae Grace Siao and Project Chair Michael Adame at the turnover were President-Elect Krisha June Burgos, Past Assistant Governor Anna Katrina Sarraga, Rotarian Precila Joy Alwag, and her husband, Prospective Member Georwin Alwag.

Through SWISH, the club continues its work to address practical water, sanitation, and hygiene needs in local communities. At Bonbon Elementary School, the project provides a direct solution to a daily concern, helping ensure that water reaches classrooms throughout the school while providing students and personnel with access to filtered drinking water.#
