Premier Rotarians Take to the Court for Pickleball Fellowship
Members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier traded their usual meeting setting for pickleball courts on September 26, 2026, gathering at Homecourt, Corrales for a morning of sport, fellowship, and family fun.
Chaired by Rotarian Kristine Rosary “Krey” Chaves, the Pickleball Fellowship gave both first-time players and more experienced members a chance to enjoy one of the country’s increasingly popular recreational sports. The club booked two courts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with activities arranged to accommodate different levels of playing experience.
Beginners received instruction from a professional pickleball coach, who guided them through the basics of the game before they took to the court. Meanwhile, members already familiar with the sport joined Open Play, allowing them to rotate through matches and get several games in during the three-hour session.
The fellowship extended beyond the club’s membership. Spouses, children, siblings, and other family members joined the Rotarians on the courts, turning the activity into an opportunity for families to spend time together while getting to know other members of the Rotary community.
Among the players, Rotarian Stephanie Mendoza finished with the day’s standout record. She played seven games and won all seven, completing the fellowship undefeated.
Between coaching sessions, friendly matches, and conversations along the sidelines, the morning offered members another way to strengthen connections outside regular club meetings and service activities. With family members joining in and players of varying experience sharing the courts, the Pickleball Fellowship combined recreation with the kind of informal interaction that helps build stronger relationships within the club.#
