Premier Rotarians Join District 3870 Vibrant Club Seminar

Eight members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier joined more than 160 Rotarians at the Rotary International District 3870 Vibrant Club Seminar on August 15, 2026, at Go Hotels in Iligan City. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Uptown Iligan, the seminar brought together Rotarians from Areas 1 and 2, covering Cagayan de Oro City and the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, including the cities of Iligan and Marawi.

Carrying this year’s presidential theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” the seminar focused on membership, public image, service, technology, and strengthening the Rotary club experience.

Representing Cagayan de Oro Premier were President Mae Grace Siao, PAG Mae Allyn Linaac, PAG Anna Katrina Sarraga, PAG Maria Teresa Sarraga-Malawani, President-Elect Krisha June Burgos, and Rotarians Rosalie Lumacang, Rowena Adame, and Precilla Joy Alwag.

District Governor Maureen G. Cacabelos formally called the seminar to order and later delivered the District Governor's Message. District Learning Facilitator PAG Ma. Concepcion Borja Lagonera set the direction for the day's discussions with “Our Purpose Today.”

The morning program examined several areas that contribute to vibrant and sustainable Rotary clubs. District Membership Chair PAG Leonides B. Quicoy discussed “The Membership Pulse: Where We Are Now and Where We Are Going,” followed by sessions on attracting and inspiring a new generation of Rotarians by Rotarian Luzmar Gabor and IPDG Marlowe Selecios, respectively.

Technology and public image also figured prominently in the program. Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator COS Bernard R. Sero presented the “RI Artificial Intelligence Guidelines for Members,” while PAG Rossa Katrina Quiblat, serving as District Public Image Chair, spoke on “Navigating the District in the Digital Age.”

District Governor-Nominee Jerry T. Ang of District 3800, Past Assistant Regional Public Image Coordinator, capped the morning learning sessions with “Telling Rotary Story Through Service.”

After lunch, participants moved into breakout rooms for more focused discussions. Topics included caring for the Rotary family, using social media to promote Rotary's People of Action message, staying and thriving in a Rotary club, and increasing impact through visibility and example. The speakers were PAG Froilan Escalante, PAG Merlyn Ybañez, PAG Shirley Serate, and Rotarian Pamila Salon.

Participants later reconvened in the main hall for “Showcasing Service Projects with Authenticity,” presented by Past District Governor Dr. Mildred V. Vitangcol, RI Zone 11A Public Image Coordinator. PAG Mae Allyn Linaac, Club Secretary of Cagayan de Oro Premier, introduced the guest speaker for the session.

With more than 160 Rotarians from Areas 1 and 2 gathered in one venue, the seminar provided space for clubs from across Northern Mindanao to exchange ideas and experiences on attracting and engaging members, communicating Rotary's work, and strengthening their service.

For the Cagayan de Oro Premier delegation, the day offered both an opportunity to learn from fellow Rotarians and to contribute the club's own experience to the District program. The seminar closed with a shared challenge for participating clubs: strengthen the Rotary experience, tell their stories with authenticity, and turn what they learned into action that can Create Lasting Impact.#
