Barnyard Boardroom Blends Fellowship, Fun, and Club Business
There was plenty of business to discuss—but first, there were a few moos, oinks, quacks, and neighs to get through.
On Friday, 7 August 2026, members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier traded polished boardrooms for weathered barn doors as they gathered at Max's Restaurant, SM Downtown Premier—and online—for The Barnyard Boardroom, a themed hybrid meeting that proved productivity and fellowship are even better when paired with a little creativity.
Nineteen members participated in the meeting, including those joining virtually, demonstrating that fellowship knows no boundaries. The club's hybrid setup allowed online attendees to deliver reports, share updates, and actively participate in discussions just as seamlessly as those attending in person.
Embracing the evening's rustic theme, members arrived in flannel, denim, boots, and bandanas. The assigned Action Group thoughtfully prepared extra bandanas for members coming straight from work, ensuring everyone could join in the fun. Even Club President Mae Grace Siao completed her look with a pair of cowboy boots, fully embracing the spirit of the evening.
The meeting also welcomed prospective member Ricarr Chiong, while members Tootsoe Go and Rose Lumacang brought along their daughters, adding to the warm, family-friendly atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the club.
Adding to the night's entertainment, each attendee drew a secret Barnyard Identity upon arrival. Members eagerly introduced themselves through animal sounds throughout the meeting, though remembering those sounds proved to be another challenge altogether. After a few playful mix-ups—and plenty of laughter—the room eventually gave up trying to remember who was supposed to quack, neigh, or baa, and simply mooed.
The evening featured the club's themed Moos & Boos segment, giving members an opportunity to celebrate victories, share challenges, and encourage one another in a lighthearted yet meaningful way. Before heading home, everyone received a small Rotary Feed bag filled with corn snacks and chocolates—a charming themed takeaway that complemented the night's barnyard atmosphere.
Despite the playful setting, the meeting remained firmly focused on Rotary's work. Project chairs presented updates on their respective initiatives, members reviewed upcoming activities, and the club made adjustments to its calendar to ensure continued momentum in serving the community.
The Barnyard Boardroom was a reminder that while Rotary meetings are built on purpose and service, they are also strengthened by fellowship, creativity, and shared experiences. By blending laughter with leadership and fun with function, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier once again demonstrated that meaningful connections often become the foundation for meaningful service.#
