In line with our organization’s cause to support education, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier sponsored a project to donate 10 tables, 12 monobloc chairs, and 23 wooden chairs made specially for the SPED students of East City Central School in Barangay Lapasan. This project was headed by Sec. Krisha June Burgos last August 30, 2019 at the school’s covered courts. The turn-over was received by East City Central School Lead Principal Mr. Edgardo Yañez and SPED Monitoring Principal Ms. Zeny M. Sacal.
Club members present at the event were: Club President Maite Sarraga, Immediate Past President Tring Del Rosario Sarraga, Secretary and Project Chair Krisha June Burgos, Dir. Maimai Daming, Rtn. Gel Lagz, and Rtn. Jilliane Rae Ramos.
The students entertained us with a Filipino song and dance presentation. Little did they know that we also had a surprise for them waiting behind the stage, and it was Jollibee! We witnessed pure joy as the kids hugged Jollibee, maybe even for the first time, that this almost brought some of us to tears.
Truly, as Kathy Calvin, President of the UN Foundation, said: “Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference.”
