5th Induction and Changeover Ceremony
Time flies when you’re having fun! True enough, in just a blink of an eye, our very own Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier entered its fifth year this July 2019. The Club formally kicked off its 5th Year with a fundraising event (see Lion King Premier article), shortly followed a few days later by the Induction and Changeover Ceremonies on 22 July 2019 at the Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
The club’s officers for RY 2019-2020, led by “Champion” President Maria Teresa “Maite” Sarraga, were charged by District Governor Nominee John Mark Sarraga, with District Governor Bansawan “Bans” Ibrahim doing the inducting honors.
DG Bans also addressed the club in his Keynote Speech where he emphasized the obligations and responsibilities of Rotarians. He also issued specific challenges to the club which President Maite gamely accepted during her acceptance speech. In fact, one of the challenges issued: that of inducting 5 new members, was 80% fulfilled immediately when the club welcomed 4 new members: Rotarians Augusto Ceasar Arellano, Jillian Rae Ramos, Maryjane Joan Tumulak, and returning Charter Member Amira Canonigo, with PDG Manuel “Manny” Along doing the usual charging honors as our unofficial honorary club parent.
Our “Inspiring” IPP Anna Katrina “Tring” Sarraga also gave her valedictory speech during the event. Before formally turning over the reins to the equally capable hands of her cousin, President Maite, IPP Tring conferred various awards and honors to the Rotarians who made significant contributions to the club’s efforts and various projects throughout RY 2018-2019. The prestigious awards of Rookie of the Year and Outstanding Rotarian went to club rock stars: Treasurer Mae Allyn Linaac and Secretary Krisha June Burgos, respectively.
All in all, it was such a fun and successful night for the members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier! The club could not truly ask for a better start to the Rotary Year.
