Polio Walk District 3870

Cagayan de Oro City – The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier walked towards a polio-free world with Polio Walk District 3870. The event, a collaboration between clubs in Zone 1, was designed to raise awareness and support to end the crippling disease. It is one of thousands conducted by Rotary International around the globe for World Polio Day.

The clubs gathered at Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City at 5:00 A.M. They kicked off the activity with a Zumba warm-up session before circling the plaza, walking the length of Don A. Velez St., then making their way back to Kiosko. The family of Rotary – local Rotaract and Interact clubs—also participated in Polio Walk District 3870. The event closed with District Governor Rosalinda “Linda” Deleste leading the ceremonial release of balloons.

In 2016, over 1400 events were hosted in over 90 countries in support of Rotary’s primary objective. This year, World Polio Day falls on Tuesday, 24 October 2017. Get involved by tuning in to the 5th annual livestream on www.endpolio.org at 2:30pm PDT / 21:30 GMT.
