Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier Welcomes New Members

People are constantly seeking new ways of helping others and most prefer to do it with other like-minded people. Four individuals recently found the ideal and collective way to reach that goal.

Krisha June Burgos, Kristina Marie Carangcarang, Maria Jennifer Precious “Tootsie” Gaston, and Kristine Rosary “Krey” Yuzon-Chaves were welcomed as new members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier during a brief induction ceremony at a club meeting held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Sentro 1850, Don. A. Velez Street, Cagayan de Oro City.

During the ceremony led by club President Marion Hazel Du, Krisha, Kristina, Tootsie and Krey were asked to stand with the club members who sponsored them. Past District Governor Manuel “Manny” Along and Assistant Governor Susan Lonkey were present as inducting officer and charging officer, respectively.

When charging the new members, AG Susan put emphasis on Rotary’s purpose of providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations and helping build goodwill and peace in the world. She reminded them of the primary duties of every Rotarian; the Object of Rotary; and the Four-Way Test as a fundamental guide in what we think, say or do. When asked of their willingness to commit to Rotary and its ideals, the new members unanimously answered in the affirmative. Having completed the charging, AG Susan presented the Krisha, Kristina, Tootsie and Krey to PDG Manny who then administered the oath of membership.

The four newly-inducted members each received a special Rotary pin, a certificate of membership, and a folder of information to help acclimate them to their new club and their new friends. CDO Premier members congratulated and welcomed the new members with a round of applause and handshakes.

The induction of new members was timely as Rotary annually celebrates August as the Membership and Extension Month. The heart of a Rotary Club is its membership. These dedicated people who share a passion for community service, fun and friendship are what allow Rotary to carry out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its mission.

Accordingly, individuals who manifest the qualities of leadership in their field and who are able to impart and put into practice Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self” are invited to join the club. Those who have complied with the club’s minimum membership requirements are then formally inducted as full-fledged members.

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier, chartered in 2015, is one of the youngest clubs in Rotary International District 3870. Members are young business persons and professionals who meet weekly on Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. at Sentro 1850, Don. A. Velez Street in Cagayan de Oro.
