Lumbia, Cagayan De Oro City – The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro Premier closed Basic Education and Literacy Month with a gift-giving project on Thursday, 26 September 2019. The project was a donation of school supplies for the benefit of the Special Education Program of Lumbia National High School. The program was launched early in January to address the growing population of learners requiring special attention in the area.
The club first met up with the class’s SPED coordinators, Mrs. Warlina C. Maca and Mrs. Marie Pasoquin Dabatian, in July. There, they arranged for the turn-over of the educational supply kits. The kits (sponsored by Mr. TJ Angeles) were composed of a backpack, 5 notebooks, 2 pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, a tube of white glue, a clear envelope, and a pair of slippers.
RC CDO Premier visited the identified learners at LNHS during the week. The Rotarians brought with them merienda composed of spaghetti, peach-mango pie and juice packets along with their gifts for the students.
At present, there are 12 SPED learners enrolled at the pioneering class of the LNHS program.
